  • Lewis E. Herzog, born 1868 in Philadelphia, son of the painter Hermann Herzog (1831-1932), originally from Bremen, emigrated to the USA. Son Lewis grew up in Philadelphia and studied in London and Berlin, and traveled Düsseldorf, Munich, Rome, and Venice. In 1893 he received the Medal of Honorable Mention at the International Art Exhibition in Berlin. The artist subsequently lived in New York and Washington; since 1893, the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia has been holding a collection of works created by Lewis E. Herzog during his study tours in Europe
