Angelika Vormittag

* 1967 , Wien

Angelika Vormittag studied zoology at the University of Vienna and painting at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with Hubert Schmalix. Appeared as part of the cycle BILD-LUST - Junge Malerei, Suppan contemporary, with numerous exhibitions and the sold-out solo exhibition “Habitat Sensitized”. From the point of view of natural areas worth protecting in the unstable ecosystem, as a painter she deals primarily with the topic of animals in the wild. The painting frieze "Intact Wilderness" commissioned by ARCHE in Jennersdorf with 58 m² was created in 2003. Angelika's imagery impresses with her authenticity and sensitivity, through her commitment as a painter who advocates the protection of species. As a zoologist, she visualizes her ideal of a “wild”, grown natural space and the species living in it. The spontaneity of the style and the intuitive use of color convey the elementary aspect of this view of nature, which understands the represented living spaces as an organic component of our environment.
